Hotel Gustavelund's story

Gustavelund estate’s first owner was mentioned in the local register in the 1500s. Later on, the place was home to military families and for a while, it was a ranch. In the early 1900s, Gustavelund had large greenhouses and fruit and vegetables were grown for numerous restaurants in Helsinki.

In the 1930’s Rafael Sederholm and his wife, Viola opened a hotel at Gustavelund. It was popular among the trendy Helsinki residents, who played tennis during the day and partied in the evening.

The current hotel building replaced the old wooden manor house in the 1960s when the place was used as an educational institution for Finnish Rural Municipalities. All that is left of the old manor, is the pavilion on the shore of Lake Tuusula. In 2015 current owners Pia and Antti Ropponen bought the hotel.
