How to find us?
Lake Tuusula is located 30 km north from Helsinki and 15 minutes’ ride from Helsinki-Vantaa airport. See map.
From Helsinki
By train
Commuter trains D and R run to Järvenpää every 30 minutes from Helsinki main railway station. The journey takes 30 minutes. From Järvenpää Station, you can walk, ride a bicycle, or take a local bus to Lake Tuusula (Tuusulanjärvi) area. In the summer time, Visit Lake Tuusula bus stops at railway station. The R train also stops in Ainola station, which is within a kilometre from Ainola and Ahola on foot.
Local train tickets to Järvenpää and Ainola (from 6.40 euros / single) can be bought using ticket machines, ticket offices, R-Kioski or using mobile apps. More information from VR commuter train site.

By bus / coach
Get directions using HSL Journey Planner www.hsl.fi/en. The travel time is about one hour. Ask the driver to alert you at the correct stop: Gustavelund, Krapi, Onnela, Halosenniemi, Ainola, or Ahola.
Buy HSL ticket for Region three zone (single or day ticket) preferably before boarding the bus. More information: HSL tickets
By car
Drive along motorway E75, take ramp 10, and turn first toward Järvenpää and then left onto road 145 (Poikkitie), leading toward Tuusula. This takes you to the area of Ainola and Lake Tuusula (Tuusulanjärvi).

By public transport
Take the P train to the Tikkurila railway station, and continue by taking commuter train R toward Riihimäki and get off in Järvenpää. There is a train about every half an hour from Tikkurila to Järvenpää. The R train also stops at Ainola, which is within 1 km walk of the Museums Ainola and Ahola. The journey time from Airport to Järvenpää or Ainola (via Tikkurila) is 30 minutes.

By car
From the airport exit road, take the Tuusula ramp to Ilmakehä (138) towards east, then turn left onto the Junkersintie, drive till traffic circle and take the highway Tuusulanväylä towards Tuusula. From Hyrylä/Tuusula drive towards Järvenpää along the Järvenpääntie until you see turning to left “Rantatie Museotie” .
From Tampere / Hämeenlinna / Riihimäki
By train
Take an express train from Tampere or Hämeenlinna (Pendolino, IC) towards Helsinki. Get off in Riihimäki and take the R commuter train to Järvenpää. The R train also stops at Ainola, from where it is about 1 km walk to the Museums Ainola and Ahola.
By car
Drive along the motorway E12 to the south, take the ramp 14 towards Tuusula/Järvenpää. Follow the signs and continue to Järvenpää or Tuusula.
From Lahti
By train
Take the commuter train Z to Kerava. Get off and take the R train to Järvenpää. Or from Lahti take the commuter train to Riihimäki and change then for the R train to Järvenpää.
By car
Drive along motorway E75 to the south, take the ramp 10 (Järvenpää E) and turn to the right towards Järvenpää. If you are heading to Tuusula then turn to the left onto the road 145 (Poikkitie). This takes you to the area of Ainola and the lake Tuusulanjärvi.
