Halosenniemi was built in the Finnish national romantic style and was completed in 1902. Log-built Halosenniemi today functions as an art museum and has been renovated to its original style. The exhibitions, which change a few times a year, feature the works of Halonen and other well-known painters.

Pekka Halonen is known for his depiction of Finnish nature and robust country folk. He studied art in Paris, but lived and worked on the shores of Lake Tuusula for more than three decades. He is best known for his paintings of winter scenery. They were painted outdoors- even in the freezing depths of winter – near his home, Halosenniemi.

The museum is open year-round, but please note that it is closed on Mondays outside the summer season.

Please note that Halosenniemi is closed (due to the refurbishment) until 31 October 2023!

How to arrive at Halosenniemi?

By bus: Get directions using HSL Journey Planner www.hsl.fi/en
Bus stop (Halosenniemi) is 650 metres / 10 minutes walk from Halosenniemi.

By train: Ainola station 55 minute walk, R train from Helsinki and Riihimäki.

Within a short walking distance:

Within a short walking distance via Museum Road are several other places of interest:
Aleksis Kivi Memorial Cottage and Erkkola 20 minutes
Jean Sibelius’ home Ainola and Ahola Museum 40 minutes

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row unlock_row_content=”yes” row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”0″ top_padding=”0″ bottom_padding=”0″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_gallery el_id=”gallery-163297″ type=”carousel” medias=”388,389,390″ carousel_lg=”1″ carousel_md=”1″ carousel_sm=”1″ thumb_size=”sixteen-nine” gutter_size=”0″ carousel_height=”equal” carousel_interval=”15000″ carousel_navspeed=”400″ carousel_loop=”yes” carousel_nav=”yes” stage_padding=”0″ single_overlay_opacity=”50″ single_padding=”2″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row unlock_row_content=”yes” row_height_percent=”55″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”0″ top_padding=”2″ bottom_padding=”0″ overlay_alpha=”50″ equal_height=”yes” gutter_size=”0″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ row_name=”kartta”][vc_column column_width_use_pixel=”yes” position_vertical=”middle” align_horizontal=”align_center” gutter_size=”2″ override_padding=”yes” column_padding=”3″ style=”dark” back_color=”accent” overlay_alpha=”50″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″ medium_width=”0″ mobile_width=”0″ width=”1/2″ column_width_pixel=”600″][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=”h3″ uncode_shortcode_id=”156412″]2024 Exhibitions[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”208230″]

The Pine Tree Worth Millions – Landscape paintings by Pekka Halonen and Contemporaries
3rd of May – 15th of September 2024

Discover Finnish art through the captivating landscapes of Pekka Halonen.
