Located in J\u00e4rvenp\u00e4\u00e4, in the scenic surroundings of Lake Tuusula, Ainola was the home of the master composer Jean Sibelius and his family from 1904 onwards. The log-built villa was designed by architect Lars Sonck. The distance from the capital provided peace for the composer\u2019s creative work, and the nearby artist families formed a lively circle of friends.<\/p>\n

Caf\u00e9 Aulis and the museum shop serve visitors during the museum\u2019s opening hours. Guided tours can be booked for groups of various sizes. More information about booking guided tours can be found on the museum\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

Ainola is closed in the wintertime.
\nIt is open from May to September, Tuesday – Sunday 10am – 5pm. Mondays closed.<\/p>\n

Jean and Aino Sibelius moved to Ainola with their family in 1904, and the log villa still retains the warm atmosphere of a home. Everything remains as it was in the Sibelius era: geraniums bloom on the windowsill, and the master\u2019s walking stick and hat rest on the bedroom table. In the main hall stands the Steinway grand piano that was presented to Sibelius in 1915.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In Ainola\u2019s dining room, attention is immediately drawn to the large green fireplace. Sibelius associated certain colors with different musical keys, and to him the green fireplace resonated in F major.
