Lake Tuusula Natura area is nationwide acknowledged as a valuable bird lake, where several bird spieces make their nests or take a rest during the migration. The area is also important for bird watchers as well as for bird research, which has taken place in the area since 1940s.

There are two lakeside bird towers in both ends of the lake. One of the bird towers is in Kaakkola, Järvenpää. You can walk to the tower along duckboard starting behind Harjuvaarankuja. The path, Joukon polku, leads to the tower and makes a small circular route in the area. You can find information boards along the path telling about the birdlife and fauna.
