Arriving by train: Take commuter train R or D to Järvenpää railway station. Check the timetables at vr.fi

At 11:45 am take the Visit Lake Tuusula bus from Järvenpää railway station.

The national romantic style, log studio of the painter, Pekka Halonen is today an art museum. It was built in 1902. The garden is also worth a visit. There is a museum shop and rowing boats are also for hire from here. Museum cards are accepted.

Summer 2020 exhibition: “From drawing school to the world – Albert Gebhard as guest of Pekka Halonen”. Painters Pekka Halonen (1865–1933) and Albert Gebhard (1869–1937), who befriended each other during their studies, are artists of the Finnish Golden Age. The exhibition presents full-blooded depictions of folk life and Finnish landscapes.

Walk along the Rantatie Museum Road: Lotta Museum, Erkkola and Aleksis Kivi Memorial Cottage. The walking distance is 1,2 km and it takes about 15 minutes; although it might take longer as you are likely to stop to take some snaps of the idyllic Rantatie Museum Road scenes!

The summer restaurant, Mankeli has both indoor and outdoor dining areas. Lunch is served from 11 am to 2:30 pm. Refreshments and á la Carte dining are available until evening.

Take the 14:35 (approximate time) Visit Lake Tuusula bus from the Lotta Museum, Onnela Inn, Erkkola & Aleksis Kivi Memorial Cottage or Krapi bus stops.

Now there is time for a relaxing, sightseeing tour! The bus will travel via the Anti-Aircraft Museum, Hyrylä bus station, the rural east side of Lake Tuusula and Vanhakylä Manor to the centre of Järvenpää town centre.

At 3:55 pm arrive at Järvenpää Art Museum.

Art exhibition summer 2020: Suviranta, Studio home of artist Eero Järnefelt
Exhibition about Suviranta in the works of Eero Järnefelt from the collections of Järvenpää art museum and from private collections. The exhibition also features objects and artefacts from Suviranta along with stories of the life of the Järnefelt family in Järvenpää.

If you are travelling by train, you can return to Järvenpää railway station easily as it is located next to art museum building. Alternatively you can explore the area further by walking to Järvenpää town centre and the Rantapuisto lakeside park. There are many interesting shops and restaurants in the town centre.
