Villa Kokkonen
Alvar Aalto designed a unique residence, Villa Kokkonen, for his good friend and composer Joonas Kokkonen. Villa Kokkonen is located in Vanhankylänniemi area in Järvenpää, near Lake Tuusula.
Villa Kokkonen is one of the few private homes designed by Finland’s most famous architect, Alvar Aalto. The centre of the home is a large study which was designed around the grand piano which remains there today. The villa’s collection of artefacts and library include over 3000 books, audio records, art objects and original furniture.
During the summer 2022 you can visit the home on a guided tour only on Saturdays at 12.00. Each guided tour takes a maximum of 20 visitors and the guidance is in Finnish. You may visit Villa Kokkonen unguided on Saturdays from 1 pm to 2 pm (no pre-booking required).
