Värinää - Art Weeks in Järvenpää

What’s Värinää?

The city, whose history is particularly full of art, still has a vibrant community of artists. In the form of The city, whose history is particularly full of art, still has a vibrant community of artists. In the form of Värinää Art Weeks, we collaborate creatively – in a spirit of friendship and love of art. Every year at the start of spring we welcome everyone to Art Weeks!

Behind the Värinää Art Weeks is a diverse group consisting mainly of art and culture professionals living in the Järvenpää and neighboring municipalities. From the beginning, the activities have been based on a few guiding ideas: art weeks are always carried out on a fee-free basis, and there is never an entrance fee for events, except for charity events. The resources of the Värinää artist community are creativity, community, freedom and willingness to experiment, as well as the opportunity to realize dreams and ideas together. Every year, we also co-operate with educational institutions and schools that provide basic art education. The young generation is strongly involved in the activities and produces part of the festival program independently.

Art Weeks have been held every spring since 2003. Over the years, the program has largely accommodated hundreds of concerts, art exhibitions, and other types of collaborative events. As standard, there is at least one Värikamari concert every year, which combines chamber music and visual arts. Otherwise, the program has involved a wide and varied range of arts and styles – dance performances, folk music, chamber opera, poems, evenings – well-proven concepts, but sometimes also new types of experiments. The goal of everything is to share the joy of art with the audience.

Värinää Ry (registered association) has received the first Art Prize of the City of Järvenpää in 2008, and the Järvenpää home association Järvepää-seura has chosen the Värinää association as Järvenpää’s Culture Association of the Year in 2015.
